Just watched the video of 100,000 paper air-planes being released from the roof of buildings in Michigan, while 20,000 people below sing, hum or play an instrument to the tune of sigur ros’ “olsen olsen”as part of “artprize” event. Strangely pleasing and fun!

Conversations
Had some great conversations with a few people lately… sharing hopes and sparking ideas… conversations with people you love and respect surely have to be one of the best ways of finding inspiration.

Enjoying the quote above, credited to Mahatma Ghandi, at the moment. Came across it recently here, and finding it inspirational especially when played alongside the song Given, from the album Hope for a Tree Cut Down.

Do lectures
Have enjoyed catching-up with some of the Do Lectures from last year, and looking forward to the new ones coming up later next month.

Riceboy Sleeps
Really enjoying the sounds of Riceboy Sleeps.

Later in the week we’ll be heading to Brussels for a few days… and then we’ll be looking to Greenbelt for some further inspiration…

I really like the album Hope for a tree cut down by the Church of the Beloved. This original music is written, performed and recorded by their community… and is free to download! I’m not a great fan of much in the way of Christian worship music, but this is fresh and creative, with deeply meaningful words… we used the track Blessing at Ayla’s Christening.

The book of Job is the oldest book of Scripture and it asks one of the oldest questions, ‘Is there hope?’ ‘Is there hope for a tree cut down? …Yes. At the mere scent of water it will bud and grow green shoots.’

Had a great time experiencing Sigur Ros on Friday at the Alexandra Palace… fantastic views of a clear night over London from up there too… just a shame my beloved wasn’t able to join me due to a bug that has been rampaging it’s way through House244. In particular enjoyed the wall of cascading water they used in a couple of songs…

I’ve been far too quiet for far too long… and already summer is here, so I thought it was time my blog got a summer make-over… and what better way to mark the summer than a camper van by the sea?

We’ve been looking for a replacement of Dixie (our former vw camper van – as seen here in north Devon)… but so far it looks like we’ll have to make do with the memories of this photo…

btw: the new album, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, by Sigur Ros is out soon – you can listen to it online at www.sigurros.com… sounds good, I’ve ordered my copy.

Went to see Sigur Ros‘ new film Heima on the big screen recently – if you like their music then I’m sure you’ll love this beautiful film following them round on their homecoming tour of Iceland. The film/documentary is one to get lost in, with their wonderful brand of emotive reflective music providing a soundtrack for the Icelandic landscape. I’d recommend catching it at a cinema rather than getting the DVD, to make sure you really appreciate the landscapes and sound – details of where it’s showing are here.
